Second and third prizes are gift certificates from Chapters.

Ed, can I submit? Or are your writing group members excluded?
I think you are referring to the contest through the Arts Council. This contest is not associated with Rainwriters, but is sponsored by the Arts Council. As with any new contest, your chances are better because not a lot of people know about the contest.
I would like to be notified about the writing Contests as I would like to take part.
Thank you for your query. There are only two local contests for writing here in Surrey, British Columbia.
Check out this source http://pred-ed.com/pubctst.htm and also Google “Writing Contests”
The two local contests I know about are: One with SIWC (Surrey International Writers Conference)– and the second with the Arts Council of Surrey
